An e-commerce company traditionally hosted its application APIs on Amazon EC2 instances. Recently, the company has started migrating to a serverless architecture that is built using Amazon API Gateway, AWS Lambda functions, and Amazon DynamoDB. The Lambda functions and EC2 instances share the same Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). The Lambda functions hold the logic to fetch data from a third-party service provider. After moving a portion of functionality to the serverless model, users have started complaining of API Gateway 5XX errors.
